FARMERS & FARM LABOURS

Farmers and farm gate level interventions and allied extension programmes  are at the core of  KSEPLs plans. We have following initiatives at farm gate which are aimed at creating positive impact on farmers especially women and small holder farmers and women farm/farm aggregation yard labours and their children

1) Small holder farmers

1.1 We have initiated comprehensive data collection program for small holder farmers for our focus crop which is Turmeric in all the districts where we operate

1.2 This data is used for constant engagement with farmers to provide them with value added inputs and information which will help them take better farming decisions during each crop cycle , the technical inputs are provided by team of crop experts with diverse specialisation

1.3 Farmers are  encouraged to share data on input costs, and other costs records, yields , which has potential to give them access to formal funding as well as know the real income post sale of their produce to buyer

1.4  We have also initiated direct farmer procurement by setting up farm gate level procurement infrastructure which is managed by local farmer youth entrepreneur, this results in substantial improvement in farmer price realisation as KSEPL connects direct industry buyers to farmers as well as consumes the farm material for its own captive requirements, This initiative has resulted in direct employment generation at farm gate , and gives KSEPL and its stakeholder partners to target various agro as well as social programmes effectively.

1.5 We have set up Small Help Group SHG for our women labours who work on our aggregation yards and we give try to give them benefit of various govt and non govt sponsored schemes which otherwise they are deprived of. We are also working on improving access to education for the childrens of Women labour SHG members with external partners.
